Dr. Kurt Dawid was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He has always had a love for animals, but was always fascinated by marine life, never having been to the sea. (his favorite animals since childhood has been sharks). He attended Veterinary school on the Caribbean Island of St. Kitts at Ross University. Prior to veterinary school, he was a paramedic in Chicago which kindled his love for emergency medicine and critical care. After school, he started out working overnight emergency at a private practice in Vancouver, WA. It was here that his love for exotic species grew even more and he started to get hands-on experience at the Oregon Coast Aquarium working with animals such as 8-foot sharks, other fish, octopus, etc. He moved to Alaska with his significant other briefly to help establish exotics care in Fairbanks, Alaska where he again worked on more fish, and even crocodiles. Currently, he now resides back in Vancouver, WA with his significant other Tana, and their two dogs and cat; Barnabee, Camp, and Boots. On his days off he enjoys Harley rides and adventuring outdoors. He is happy to be a part of the Orchards Hills Animal Hospital. He will see ANY species of animal that needs help including, (but of course not limited to) birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, livestock, etc. There is nothing that he won’t see and has a lot of experience working on all types of exotic/different species, so please don’t hesitate to bring them in, great and small.
