Saya was raised in Vancouver, WA, but has spent time living and working in several cities in the PNW—including Tacoma, WA, and Eugene and Portland in Oregon. She has always been passionate about animal care and counts the month she spent helping rehabilitate wild animals as a volunteer at the Jaguar Rescue Center in Costa Rica as one of her most fulfilling experiences. She has one cat named Kuma-chan, which is an affectionate term for ‘bear’ in Japanese. Kuma-chan appeared on Saya’s doorstep one rainy day and has been a central member of the family since. Saya believes in taking the time to rest during her days off, and Kuma-chan is all too happy to help keep the vibe chill.
